Well, I did my first Iron But Ride a week ago today, and it went well. I left Austin at 5:59 AM, and headed north on I35 int the Cities, and cought I494, and headed West to Steele ND. (About 30 miles before Bismarck). Turned around, and headed back to Fargo where I jimped on I29, and headed South to Souix Falls SD. Then I jumped on I90, and head back to Austin. Made it back to my starting point at 11:59PM.

My gas stops didnt go as planned. Milage, and few places to stop, I stopped way more often then planned.

First stop 136 miles Average mpg 34

Second stop 156 miles Average mpg 32

Third stop 150 miles Average mpg 30

Fourth stop 58 miles Average mpg 29

Fifth stop 92 miles Average mpg 26

Sixth stop 143 miles Average mpg 29

Seventh stop 153 miles Average mpg 36

Eighth stop 192 miles Average mpg 37

Total gallons.......35.25

Total miles............1080

Average mpg..........30.63

Average time for gas stops was probably around 10 minutes

Congrats. The last few days, I've been thinking about this. Maybe this fall when it cools down.

Any advice?

Well, concidering this was my first one, I dont really have much advice. I would go to the IBA website, and they have all kinds of info there.

Question: recently I saw a post about Insurance companies and them including small print that says they do not cover rides like that NOR anything past 500 miles per day...

Does your insurance cover it? I think the company in question was Gieco but cannot remember for sure.
