To the east of Las Vegas is a state park named Valley Of Fire. From my house its about an hours ride. There is camping and picnic areas. Its all sand stone and the colors are amazing. The remains of ancient civilizations are still evident as there are still allot of petroglyphs visible on the walls of the canyons.I left this morning at about 9am and got home at around 3pm. Here are some pictures.......

Entering the park.....

I'm glad somebody is getting to use their wing. It's a little too cold to ride for a few days here in the south, but it is days not months:banana:

Never rode in the desert before. Do you ever come across sand that has blown on the road? Slippery?

Mike, in Tucson I hit some wind blown sand on the road when I was accelerating on my Maxim, and I about ate some pavement... :surprised:

Great pics, Vegas!!

I received my stuff from Wingstuff, including a rear rack and other trinkets and it's got my itch going to ride.. I'll take it out on my snowmobile this weekend, but running through a rock canyon with 78 degree weather can't be beat!!

I've ridden windblown sand a few times by Copper Harbor, MI, but only on the KLR, were it's almost welcome..

Days are getting longer, and soon warmer.. Currently planning trips for the KLR, BMW and Wing with friends this weekend.. Colorado on the wing, and numerous trips up the Mighty Missippi on the KLR and Beemer.. I have an itch to see Hudson Bay this year, and I haven't decided which bike will do that trip, but hopes are there..

As much as I'd like to say I'm envious of today's ride (and I am) I've been out in your neck of the woods when it's hot and I'm glad I don't have to step outside at those times, let alone try to ride in 115 heat..

I'm in Beaumont, TX next week for a couple days.. I'm already hating my rental car.

Mike you have never been riding out west?

I've been through the dessert a few times.. and once through a sand storm. Sand on road is slippery like it is here.. LOL..

Oh and I say we ban anyone who post pics of Rides during the winter, until spring or the snow is all gone where I live..

Where is the weather you promised to send our way?

You promised us all good weather, and then we get snow!

No more rides until you get us the weather you promised us.
