Is there a big change in the transmission of the 83 over the 82? Both use a 16 inch rear, correct? .. I am thinking of swapping my 81 engine with an engine that runs a 16 inch rear from the factory.. I know of several whom went with the 83.. but am courious if I can get the same or similar reult with the 82 motor.....

This post puzzles me in that from all of the reading I have done on Goldwings, I do not remember seeing anything about different transmission ratios on Goldwings of the same model years. I.E.: All 1000s had same ratio, all 1100s had same ratio, etc. etc. Well as far as the reading I have done.

I don't know for sure, but I've read that the 83's have lower gearing to aid in rpms at hwy speed. No personal experience with it though.

That's what I heard Johnny.... but if the 82 has a 16 inch rear wheel then it would benefit me slightly in a higher speed @ same rpms... trying to lower rpms
