The RTE to the Carousel Werks was a lot of fun. The Long Suffering Mrs. Warlock violated her own rule of no riding under 70 degrees and rode with me today. We met Sara at Flanagan's and then met Grandpa913 at 62 and 661.

When we arrived we waited for Tank to show before we started the tour. While we waited Grandpa and Midnight Rider talked heated gear.

The gathering:

We began the tour at the beginning of the creation of a Carousel.

The upright boxes are "bodies" to be carved by the skilled hands of the 7 carvers that work there.

These are legs and heads being built. Almost all the wood is bass wood. There is some pine and some poplar.

Here Donna shows us two "carving machines" that rough out a shape that Donna and the other carvers turn into the final product.

This is the center post of a carousel. They make the entire carousel at Carousel Werks

Did ya know you could tell which horses on a carousel are male and female? A tooth behind that gap makes it a male.

Donna's current project. She takes 5 to 7 days to carve a complete critter.

Double WOW! That is really great, and I am so glad to see something still made by hand in America. Your report and pictures makes me want to come to Ohio for a tour myself, and bring along a bunch of friends.:clap::clap:

That rocks.

I can honestly say I have never seen that on Discovery Channel.

Well done.
