We are headed out to Rapid City, South Dakota this Saturday the 25th of July via Columbus, Ohio; Bloomington, Illinois; Waterloo, Iowa; and Mitchell, SD. We are taking it easy with only about 350 miles daily on our Goldwing Trike. Going to visit our Daughter and her family, take in a day at the Sturgis Rally, ride the Black Hills and head on out to Devils Tower too. We have been planning this trip since last August and really looking forward to it. Hope to see some of the folks from the forum while on the road out your way. If you happen to see our 2007 Orange CSC Trike and matching Escapade trailer with Dragon graphics, please say hi or just wave as we pass through your area. Take care all of you and ride safe.

Have a great trip Winston. About the closest you will be to us, is in Waterloo... about 2 hours from here.

Your bike and trailer is the exact setup the Honda dealer, here, has... Looks GREAT

Thanks Dean. Since we are overnighting in Waterloo, there is a slight chance we may be able to get into Muscatine for a look round Hatfield's place there. Don't know for sure, it depends on how the ride is going at that point...and of course, the weather.

We left West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle about 9:30 Saturday morning and promptly had to turn around and return to the house because we had left the neighbor's phone number on the kitchen counter. Well, after we got back on the road, we had a great ride all the way to Columbus, Ohio. We ran into some torrential rain and heavy duty winds after we crossed into Ohio. We got soaked and beat almost to death with the weather front that moved from West to East Saturday. What a tough ride. Got to the hotel and promptly crashed and burned. LOL. Headed out this morning and had sunshine all the way to Bloomington IL, but the wind hadn't let up from Saturday. All in all it was a good day. Looking at getting into Waterloo, Iowa after about a 4 1/2 ride tomorrow...our short day. So far, so good. Oh, Mary's rainsuit leaked. Guess we have to hope for no more showers all the way to Rapid City. Heh heh. Bike is running like a champ. Why not? Its a Goldwing. :) Our gas milage has taken a dump due to fighting the winds both days. Hope to see better numbers after tomorrow's leg. More later if you folks are interested. Ride safe and take care.

Oh yeah, weather. Well, we made it to Waterloo. Wasn't able to stop in Muscatine because the wind was kicking our butts. Started out beautifully this morning and on till around lunch time. Then the wind decided to show up again and there ya go, messed up a terrific ride. Tomorrow looks kinda damp, but you never know eh? We are comfy and cozy right now in the hotel room and watching the rain move through. Maybe it will be headed down to Texas where they need it. :ponder: Sun is out right now, the wind has died down a lot and it is looking gorgeous outside. Sorry we were not able to get to Muscatine this leg, maybe on the return trip? Who knows eh? Praying to the weather gods that tomorrow will be good to us. We will be leaving here early and headed to Mitchell, SD. Will let you all know how it went when we finally get there and online. Take care and ride safely. Weather and all, it has been fun so far. :woohoo:

Hi gang!! We finally made it to Rapid City without incident for the most part. We departed Mitchell, SD. with beautiful weather and no wind. Ride was great until we hit the cold front coming in from the west and then the rains and wind blasted us -- again (this just isn't right). And, we had a little scare with hydroplaning on the bridge coming into Chamberlain. I had been slowing down coming to the bridge and was only running around 45 MPH but still felt the rear end of the trike trying to break loose. Not a good feeling, I'll tell ya! I'm just glad I had anticipated the possibility and had slowed down a lot before getting to the bridge. Be careful when out in the elements.

Weather today - Rapid City hit a record low temperature for this date. Can you believe it? It is supposed to be warm this time of the year. What's up with that???? :baffled:Seems the weather will be pretty good for the remainder of our visit. YEAH!!!

Take care and ride safe. Cheers from here!!
