Possible ride into Iowa Wisconsin

Towards the end of July my wife and I are thinking of jumping on the bike and going somewhere for about five or six days. Was thinking of maybe taking the Mississippi river route that I think I've heard Digger talk about.

If we do decide to do it is there a good starting point on the Minnesota map going to the south? I think it'd be cool to follow the river down a ways. Then to decide how far south to go. :baffled:

Would be nice to stop and meet you guys since we won't be able to make the meet & greet this weekend.

How far down are you coming?

With enough notice, I can get the weekend off, and hopefully meet up.

Not sure how far down. I guess the only timeline would be depending on how far down we go it would probably take two days to get home. I don't care for the 12 - 14 hour stints in the saddle.

Would be great to meet ya Lucky.

The way it's looking right now is that we would be heading to southern Minnesota on Sunday afternoon/evening of the 26th (July). We have scheduled plans for the 24th & 25th.

I realize it's gonna be hard for you guys to meet up during the week. But if we can get some times down when you'll be around I'll do my damnedest to make it work. I'd like to meet you guys!!!

Heck....even if we don't ride but just sit and shoot the bull.

Well, in Wisconsin, you need one if you're under 18, or if you only have an instructional permit.

I would recommend the river road, My folks live on the river south of Wabasha and we have ridden it alot in fact my Wife and I have ridden both sides and crossed every bridge between Lake Itasca and Memphis. If intrested a cool starting point is Taylors Falls/Hwy 95 you can follow the St. Croix to Hastings then hook up with the Mississippi at Red Wing. Nothing really follows it between Hastings and Red Wing after that Hwy 61 follows close to the river. For a quicker route other then Hwy 95, Hwy 10 follows it between St. Paul and Hastings.

Riding the river south, you really can't get on a bad road.. It's excellent riding, throughout..

I'm off the week of the 13th and I haven't figured out where I'm going, what I'm doing, what bike I'm taking, but I know I'll end up riding that area..

I think Mespock needs breakfast, anyway..

I've been looking but no luck so far.... anyone know of web sites showing the roads for the Mississippi river? Would like to follow the river as close as possible. Prefferably down one side and back up the other.
