Last summer a friend and I drove out to Zipp's place because my friend was buying Zipp's 81 GL1100 I.  A few weeks ago, I get a text from my friend, "I have a GoldWing for sale, it's the 81.  $100 just for you."  He bought another bike and didn't want to worry about this one anymore... I got to thinking that I really don't need another bike but then I remembered that when we picked it up from Zipp, the bike has just about everything that was in the GL1100 aftermarket add-on catalog.  So I said why not.  Fast forward a few weeks and I went to pick it up, got it home and fired it up.  It was only running on the right side two, but the left side had spark.  I gave it a short of ether on the left side and it instantly ran better but then quit running again... okay, it's a fuel problem.  Swap out the carb with another set that I had given my friend a few years ago when I got out of the 1100 business and she now purrs like a kitten.

Now it's time to get busy and get this thing looking good once again, but do I really need four bikes in my garage???

That's awesome, Brian!  Very nice and for that price, absolutely beautiful.  Congrats

Leslie looked at the pictures and loved the embossed seats.  She'd really like those on the 1800.

I wish the seat was in a little better shape than what it is... "Leo" (not sure who Leo is) is sewn into the seat, it's cracking, and 36-26-36 is sewn in the back... those measurements no longer work for me.  I fear that the seat will need to be recovered, but I hope to at least save the passenger backrest.   I am going to find a set of beads for the seat first to see how that works for me.

That 81 certainly looks loaded from the pics.   Make her pretty and don't be afraid to let her go.  You have to start making room for a Wing from this century...

Not sure about that Terry...  there's something about these OldWings that keeps me intrigued.  Now, the Helix on the other hand, that may be the one that needs to go.
