What way does the new year get rang in in your area?

All around the world the new year gets rang in in different and unique ways.  Just across the river from us they set up a large crane, hoist up a 30' long watermelon and at the stroke of mid night they drop a watermelon for each year from the year 2000.  So last night 18 watermelons crashed down upon the "splatform".  They are locally grown melons that have been carefully stored in a large cooler.  Actually they store a lot of melons so they will have the number needed that are not rotten.

My bet is that those melons were frozen by the time of the drop at the temp was 3 degrees.

So "WHAT UNIQUE CELEBRATION WENT ON IN YOUR PART OF THE WORLD?"

AND got up and let the dogs out,

got up and let the dogs in,

AND got up and let the dogs out,

got up and let the dogs in,

AND got up and let the dogs out,

got up and let the dogs in,

AND got up and let the dogs out,

got up and let the dogs in,
