That's fine. My riding trip home has turned into a driving trip home... more to follow when I am at a PC and can type better. Right now I'm in a tow truck and it is a bumpy ride.

One sure way to shorten a long ride home is to run hot. Then you can get a ride in and air-conditioned tow truck.

Just for clarity on this as I know I've gotten a few questions, Brian is OK, his bike has had catastrophic engine failure (my words, not his) and we are now working on getting him and his bike home.

John beat me to it.

As it stands right now, the motor quit on I10 about 60 miles west of Houston. Progressive/USAA Roadside assistance covered 47 miles and I had to pay $5 per mile over that. I have the bike at my hotel while I attend a training course at the Houston VA hospital that ends Thursday.

John has said he will drive down and pick me up on Thursday when Little-bit will have another supervisor for her house move in session and Nancy will need to put up with two retired Navy Chiefs instead of one until Sunday when the second leg of my journey home happens.

My dad needs a few days away from my mom, or she may come along, and he is going to meet me at John's and bring me and my bike home the rest of the way.

So if everything works out, I should be home Monday.

Thanks John!!!

Oh... and I actually got the old girl to fire up today. No way it would make it 1700 plus miles but at least we won't need to push it onto a trailer.

Brain, if there's anything I can do to help let me know. If you need a place to put up for the night midway between Johns and home, your more than welcome to stop......

I hear the food here is mediocre.........

I would offer to come down, but it seems that JT has beat me to the punch.

I think my ole F-150 could manage to get you back up this away a piece. :)

If yer traveling on I-81 the good news is regular gas is running about $1.83/gal here in Marion so it's close to the same I believe from Bristol to Wytheville at least.. And if you coming through on Sunday and DO decide to pit-stop in Marion lemme know and I'll tell ya which exit to take and where the cheap gas is!! Also the local Mickey D's if you need a burger!! Lemme know!!

My dad is currently in Knoxville Tennessee and will be dropping his trailer off here tomorrow. We leave on Sunday to head for home... as long as the soaking I got in Mississippi last night doesn't turn into a full blown sinus issue.

Just got back home from Brian taking me out to a Mexican fahita dinner. It's been a long couple of days, 1750 miles in 34 hours. We shared driving coming back from Houston thankfully. Good fellowship for sure!
