hello to everyone on the site. i think i have finally found a goldwing site that will do me some good. last year at this time i didnt even a bike and now we are on our third ride. after almost 30 years of being off a bike a purchase my son's 750 spirit and rode it till i sold it to my ohter son who found me an 1100 spirit. after i started riding my wife wanted to go along and now she is the one who wants to ride after work and is even wanting to learn to drive her on her own. we had been considering a wing so her ride woulkd be more comfortable and an afforable deal came along so now we are new owners of a 1996 se model. we went farther the first day on it that we had ever gone on either of the other bikes. we love it. unfortunealy i did not get an owners manual so i have been learning things on my own for now. i found this site today and have learned more in a hour than in the last 2 weeks on some other sites.

i do have one question for now, could someone tell me how and where to check the coolant level? ok really 2 question. how do you put the bike on the center stand?

looking forward to getting to know you and learning about goldwings

Hi jay, First welcome to the NAGF! Glad to have you here! hithere_smilie.gif

The coolant level can be checked by removing the lid to the reservoir . The reservoir is located under the front of the handlebars. Its easier if you remove the left handlebar cut out. Then pull off the cap and it will have a dip stick attatched.

The center stand is a popular question.....

First stand to the left of the bike and put your right foot on the centerstand and gently push down until the centerstand hits the ground. Put both hands on the bars and prop it up while keeping your foot on the centerstand until you feel the bike center itself. Then move your right hand to the handle on the left side of the seat above the saddlebag while keeping your left hand on the left handlebar. Then put your body weight on the centerstand while lifting with your right hand that in on the seat handle. The bike should jump up on the centerstand with no problem.

You might want to have your son or another adult stand on the right side of the bike for safety until you get the hang of it.

The coolant should be green. If you have any concerns about it, flushing the system is pretty simple.
