North American Summer Rally - NASR 10
"Let us take you back"
July 11th, 12th 13th 2017

Your Host, Co-Host and helpers are John Johnson (jobe05), John Hannington (Halfling), Bill Ladigo (flyone), Andy Williams (lopeha), John Craig (AZgl1800), Doug & Michelle Hemingway (Snorebaby and Snorebabe), Allen Landmann (Browner_77), Patti & Dennis Ruda (D-Rod and Button Lady), Donald Barret (RoscoePC) and many others

Location: Yokums Vacationland ( www.yokum.com ) US 33 and Hwy 28 Seneca Rocks West Virginia, 26884
(for GPS purposes, please use the Intersection of US33 and Hwy28, as the physical address will not get you there)

I would like for you to think about those good ol’ days when you were young, sitting on Grandmas porch listening to Grandpa's stories from when he was a kid working on the farm, playing in the woods, visiting and helping neighbors for whom he referred to as “the locals”. As a young teen hanging out at the local garage to assist and earn a dime if he could, Grandpa talks of simple, laid back times when life wasn’t so busy, so consuming. There were no designer Jeans, Electronics or TV. He talks of a simple life, a hard life, but a life that we all wish we could go back to.

Let us take you back! NASR 10 will be held July 11th, 12th and 13th of 2017 at Seneca Rocks, Wild and Wonderful West Virginia. If you truly want to get away from it all, a trip to Seneca Rocks, West Virginia is just the thing to blow off the cares of your daily grind. The area offers everything from spelunking, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, rafting, rock climbing, a mountain train ride, caverns, historic sites and so much more. Or maybe you just want to sit and relax and take in the wonderful views. Virtually anything you can think of for that "man vs. nature" feeling. There isn't a shopping mall, fast food chain or high rise in sight.
As the area offers more than can be enjoyed in a mere few days, the location is reminiscent of the times and tourist stops of the 1950's and 60's. The Yokum hotel and cabins are adjacent to the entrance of the Yokum Indian Camp Grounds. There are many options at Yokum’s for your stay. The Seneca Rocks, part of the Potomac Highlands region of West Virginia offers many an insider’s view of the local area and history, there won’t be a local that you will meet that won’t be happy to share a piece of local history with you.

Your home away from home for the event is at Yokum’s Vacationland ( www.yokum.com ). The property has all facets of available accommodations from newer family cabins, Fisherman’s cabins nestled in the woods, bunk houses, and the Hotel above the store. I have personally inspected all these accommodations and can tell you that they are clean, well-cared for and well-appointed for all our needs. With the exception of the bunkhouses, every location has at least a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot. All Cabins have dishes, cups, pans and silverware if the need is there for a late night snack

Looking for a few days of great riding? You won’t find any bad roads in and around the Potomac Highlands region. Whether you just ride in and out, or ride all week while here, you will experience one of the greatest pleasures of West Virginia, their mountain roads! The ride, the breathtaking natural scenery is second to none!

The Campgrounds are well equipped and range from Rustic Tent sites, electric sites and full hook up RV sites. They even have Teepees for the adventurous!! Teepees however is just an open space with a cement floor, however with a blow up mattress and your bedding, they would make a great camping experience. All Teepee’s (5) have a ceiling Fan/Light with 1 electrical outlet near the floor. Teepees are also right there at the Pavilion where we will be holding our Breakfast and Dinner meals and events!!
rewd_tpee.jpg

Making lodging reservations: As you may know. most reservation systems have a time limit before you can make your reservation. Yokum's opens their reservations for July in January. Due to the popularity of Yokum's, I felt we needed to be able to make reservations before it was open to the public. Yokum's Manager has agreed to allow us to make our reservations starting TODAY!!!! However you must call 1-800-772-8342, Mon - Fri, 7am to 1 pm and talk to MARY ONLY!!!! She is keeping handwritten reservations for the NASR-10 Summer Rally (Mention this when calling), till such time as their reservation system opens for our event time frame. She will then put all our reservations in ahead of time to insure we get first dibs on all Lodging options. Please post your Reservations in this thread so monthly we can verify with Mary that she has your reservation!!!

West (By God) Virginia has some of the best riding available!  Every time I have camped in wV, it has been a great experience.

Are reservation required for camping?

Oops!  I should have read Johns post a little better...

John, in post #1 you mention Full hookups for camping but the price list only shows water and electric sites and it says no reservations for camping.

Please clarify if they have full hookups available (water, sewer, and electric of which I need 30 amp) or are these water and electric only sites. Also with them not taking reservations I would like some sort of assurance I will be able to get a site with all hookups, any idea how That will work?

I had already committed to a ride out to Vancouver Island next year, for my riding group's National Rally. I plan on leaving on July 8, hooking up with a buddy in Custer, touring there, CO/UT/WY/MT/AB/BC, attending the rally on the Aug long weekend and then arriving back home Aug Aug 15/16.

Otherwise (or if things fall through with hooking up with my buddy Beemer Brad) I'd be all over this like a cheap suit!

To all the members who want to attend that require full hook up for your campers I.e. Sewer water electric: I called Mary at Yokums this morning and confirmed that they do not take reservations for these sites. She said the sites that are up near the pavilion generally fills up quickly where we are going to be with year round campers (although there was only 1 there during my visit) but she said there is a lot of just water and electric sites there with a dump station, and in the other camp grounds they own near the family cabins there are a lot of full hook up sites

She did say that even though they don't take reservations, if you call her a week or two in advance of the event date, she can tell you what's available and she will reserve it for you.

237 miles... where are the dancing bananas!

:jumping-for-joy-smiley-emoticon

So looking at the maps, is tent camping pretty much pitch it where ever it fits or are there actual tent sites?

Here they are! Tent camping is just anywhere, no actual sites for tents. If you require electric just pony up next to one of the cabins that we have rented and I'll have some heavy duty extension cords hooked up for people to use.
