Nice job John, ,Lots of good info there.

I took a minute or two to add that site as a resource for "how-to's" and pick the brains of some of the folks there.

THANKS AGAIN,

Just to save you some more frustration, don't use an airtex pump. They have a terrible reputation.

Thanks David, I'll definitely steer clear of them,, , ,I got enough headaches without asking for more.

John's setup looks to be the best I've found, , , I'll have to "re-read" it all to make sure I can understand and follow it.  (, , not always the brightest bulb in the marquis)

I installed the NAPA pump.  I have not had any problems with it.

Good to know Carl.
Which strainer did you use and, does it feel secure?
Remember what you did about the sharp curve for the output hose going up to the mounting plate?
Did you leave the "breather" hose out?

Go to the auto parts store and pick up some new fuel line. Ditch the original output line and make a longer one with the new fuel line. The breather hose can either be left on or removed, it doesn't matter.

Yep, 5/16 fuel line is on the list. It's about a 100-104 degree bend in the output hose from the pump upward to the mounting plate. I'm curious about how to prevent a "hose-kink" situation after installation. The brass elbow was one tip, how about others.

as I emailed  you, I had to install a brass 90 degree tee in the fuel line, as mine did kink up about 15 minutes away from the house, even though it was new NAPA fuel hose.

Nice info Mike and John.   Thank you both for speaking up.

I've got a foot of the 5/16" Gates 27093 (30R10 rated) coming and I'll get the brass elbow if i need to.

It took about an hour to wire/plumb/install the new setup.
It's working fine and is the best $80 I spent for a quick and easy fix for a bad fuel pump.

Thanks to all who helped with tips/advice and suggestions for getting me up and running again.
